Some of you may or may not know that I am a backstage host on Dancing with the Stars, and one of the coolest parts of the job is that after every season I fly with the top three contestant on a private jet to New York.
SO after the finale of season 26, I find myself on a plane with NFL player Josh Norman and his partner (and my friend) Sharna Burgess. We were flying to Times Square to be on Good Morning America, and there was catering on the plane, which got me and Sharna talking about foods that make us break out.
We decided enough was enough and fast forward to us taking a food intolerance test provided by Pinnertest. There are a few companies out there, and some may be cheaper, but we went with Pinnertest, because it seemed to have the highest number of foods tested.
Turns out Sharna was allergic to bacon, and get this: she always broke out on the DWTS tour and it’s because she was eating bacon that they catered on the show! She told me the test was a total game-changer for her.
I am 90% vegetarian so I was relying heavily on eggs for protein, and it turned out according to the test that I was highly intolerant to both egg white and the yolk! I also turned out to be intolerant to wheat, and guess what— veggie burgers are primarily made from wheat gluten (the “meat” and the bun) so I stopped eating eggs and switched to a brand called Beyond Meat for my protein and haven't had a cyst since.
According to the Pinnertest website, this is how it works:
“Pinnertest utilizes advanced IgG (FC Fragment Specific), Antigen, Antiserum, Control tests to determine an individual’s food sensitivities. By using this particular kind of test, our lab can thoroughly measure the IgG antibody levels against the proteins of over 200 different foods. This progressive technique works to identify the foods that respond negatively with your system–all with just a few drops of blood dispensed by a basic finger prick.”
